Nothing like escaping!

There is just nothing like loosing yourself in a good book is there? Have you ever read a book so good that you lost track of time and were totally immersed in it? Then you know what I mean… If you haven’t then you just haven’t found the right book/author. I peruse Goodreads.com to find new authors or books that I may not otherwise find. I have found some amazing books this way! To think that I would have missed out!

The big Charleston, SC snow had me heading to the library to stock up. Before a storm of any kind you will find me at the library – I like knowing that I always have a book on hand! Some days I don’t get a chance to read, others I only have a few minutes, but it’s a cherished few minutes!

After re-thinking my decisions, I returned the two beach books (The Identicals/Hilderbrand and Same Beach Next Year/Frank) -I’m saving them for when it warms up a bit.

Our Souls at Night by Kent Haruf  is one of those books I will never forget. It was different. The very first sentence will catch you. I think this book gives insight to many people…

A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy is a book I didn’t want to end. It was so different and interesting – I love being in a different country (via a book) and learn about their way of doing things. Transforming an old mansion into a resort getaway – wow. It was fabulous! I wish Maeve was still alive and writing more books! I just started another of hers…

My Last Continent by Midge Raymond – I kept NOT reading to prolong this book. I got so near the end that I rationed my reading to just a few pages, ha ha… This book is set in Antartica – researchers (penguins) and a big cruise ship disaster. I want more books set in Antartica or similar climates. I remember reading Ice Bound: A Doctor’s Incredible Battle for Survival at the South Pole by Jerry Nielsen – this was non-fiction – and it was amazing – the part about her having cancer was a small part of the book. How people function at the South Pole – Even though this book was written a long time ago, I highly recommend this if you like that setting. It was fascinating!

Catch you back here tomorrow!
