Banana tree… I never really pictured these growing in Charleston, but they do. The banana tree that we had usually didn’t produce bananas until the end of the season and then there was a frost that kept them from getting to the edible stage. It’s pretty cool to see though! I would think these will make it, especially since our weather remains in the 80’s.
The bottom leaf is is typically what the leaves look like, however when they’re in strong wind (like Hurricane Dorian not long ago) they will shred. It’s pretty good design actually. They get new shoots all the time. This photo was taken downtown somewhere (while walking).
