Apparently it’s my turn to have the flu. I had a flu shot so it’s not as bad as if I didn’t, but… last night was pretty miserable. The fever is hard to get down with this strain of the flu (so the pharmacist told me). To wake up shaking, shivering (and I haven’t shivered in YEARS) and feeling like you’re going to break is misery.
But… it could’ve been worse. Many people wish all they had was the flu, so I’m not complaining (well maybe just a little).
I’m very thankful for a wonderful husband to help and a sweet little beast who has been sitting on my foot with his head on my knee… he’s being unusually good. It’s amazing how dogs can sense things.
Staying hydrated, for me it’s been a lot of water, decaf green and white tea with slivers of ginger steeped in it, a few small cold glasses of coffee to help relieve this monstrous headache. You have to go with what sounds good. Fred drank bottles of Gatorade, coconut water, water and orange juice. Oh, and I have a new affinity for fruit popsicles these things are amazing!
A deep (unproductive) cough is misery, and I’m not one to take cough medicine but I did read that honey can work just as well as dextromethorphan. I tried it last night. Organic camomile tea with 2 teaspoons of honey stirred in. It worked!!! I don’t put sugar in my drinks so that was pretty sweet for me, but not coughing was fabulous! So I will do it again in a few minutes.
If you haven’t gotten a flu shot, I would do it. This is misery, but that’s me… When I wrote the post the other day about less structured and not daily, I didn’t intend to not post this much. I will be back.
Have a happy and healthy weekend
Catch you back here SOON!
