I would love to be sitting in one of these chairs beside my Dad this year to wish him a Happy Father’s Day in person. Travel isn’t likely until this coronavirus at least slows down. Our numbers are rising in SC. #pleasewearyourmask #iwanttoseemyfamily
I have been so blessed with the best dad ever. He is inquisitive – always taking us places and teaching us new things as kids – and still teaching us new things now. He loves to cook and bake – so growing up was always fun in that department! He makes life interesting because he is interested in so many things. If he doesn’t know anything about a subject, he’ll buy a book and learn. Photography and developing his own photos… no problem, just build a little dark room in the basement, and BAM! Cool photos done just how you like them! Wine making, check – I wonder how it tasted… I remember the labels and they were too cool! Sailboat racing, for many years. Watercolor, oil painting, gouache… every kind of art you can imagine. Holidays were ALWAYS special.Whether it was Halloween where he would walk what felt like miles beside us as we ran up to houses in our neighborhood to trick or treat – after carving a pumpkin and roasting the seeds (I still love roasted pumpkin seeds!) or Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, etc. they were ALWAYS special. He bought me my first digital camera – he had the first iPad in the family, the first iPhone, he’s so interested in things, I get that from him. I can spend hours figuring things out. I love that! I have good memories of when I was young and he worked late, I would leave him a note before I went to bed and I would wake up to a note I am a note writer / real letter sender to this day.
Happy Father’s Dad to Fred’s Dad as well. I’m telling you we are so fortunate. We both have parents who are amazing individuals. They have given a lot of love over the years… Fred’s dad would pack up the family to go camping, even though he would still have to go to work. He made the long drive to and from work each day. How’s that for dedication? Fred has learned a lot from his dad over the years, and that’s priceless!
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all of the Dad’s out in the universe! Being a good dad is one of the most important roles in the world. YOU shape your children. This world needs kind, compassionate kids to grow up and nuture THEIR children to be the same way. With all that’s been going on in the world, I think it’s of the utmost importance to start now. #weareallone #alonetogether #LOVEYOUDAD
Until next time…
